CARE

FINEST LINES

Before Your Appointment

A little prep goes a long way.

In the Week Before

  • Hydrate, and moisturise the area daily for at least a week. Well-hydrated skin takes ink much better

  • Stay out of the sun and off tanning beds. Sunburnt skin can't be tattooed

48 Hours Before

  • No blood thinners — aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E. If you're on prescribed medication, check with your doctor before stopping anything and let me know

24 Hours Before

  • No alcohol or caffeine

  • No recreational drugs

On The Day

  • Arrive clean and sober

  • Eat a proper meal first — low blood sugar is the main reason people feel faint

  • Feel free to bring drinks and snacks

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing with easy access to the area, and nothing you'd be upset about getting ink on

  • Bring headphones. Fine line work takes concentration and depending on placement I may not be able to chat much

  • Come alone — guests are welcome to wait in reception

  • Bring photo ID

I may take photos before, during, and after for your file and my portfolio. Nothing goes public without your consent.

AFTERCARE

Your tattoo will change day to day for a couple of weeks. Trust the process.

What's Normal

  • Days 1–3 — redness, swelling, warmth, tenderness. The area may weep a little plasma or ink

  • Days 3–7 — peeling and flaking

  • Weeks 2–4 — the surface looks healed but the skin is still settling. Fine line work can look slightly faded or uneven at this stage

  • Full healing — 4–6 weeks

First 24-48 Hours

  • Leave the second skin on for the time I've told you

  • Once removed, wash gently with clean hands, mild fragrance-free soap, and lukewarm water

  • Pat dry with clean paper towel — don't rub

  • Apply a very thin layer of fragrance-free moisturiser or tattoo aftercare

  • Don't re-wrap unless I've told you to

Weeks 1-4

  • Wash gently 1–2 times a day

  • Moisturise 3–4 times daily for the first two weeks, then twice daily. A thin layer is all you need

  • Don't touch it with unwashed hands

  • Wear loose, breathable clothing over the area to avoid friction

  • Stay out of direct sunlight, and don't put sunscreen on a healing tattoo

  • Once fully healed, SPF 50+ every time it sees sun

Avoid

  • Swimming, ocean, baths, spas, hot tubs — no soaking of any kind

  • Heavy sweating or intense exercise

  • Sun exposure and tanning beds

  • Picking, peeling, or scratching

  • Products with fragrance, alcohol, or heavy petroleum

  • Shaving over the tattoo before it's fully healed

What To Use
Keep it simple — a fragrance-free moisturiser is all you need. Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion, Bepanthen (thin layer only), or a tattoo-specific balm. Ask me if you're unsure.

Touch Ups
Fine line work is delicate and results vary with skin type, placement, and aftercare. Touch-ups can be booked through Fresha.

  • Not complimentary — charged at a minimum fee regardless of size

  • Wait until fully healed, no sooner than 6–8 weeks

  • Touch-ups needed because of aftercare, sun damage, or high-movement placement aren't the responsibility of Finest Line Perth. I'll always discuss high-risk placement with you before we start

When To See a Doctor

Some redness and tenderness in the first few days is completely normal. See a doctor if you notice redness, swelling, or heat getting worse after day 3, pus or unusual discharge, fever or flu-like symptoms, or a rash spreading beyond the tattoo. You're also welcome to email me if you're not sure whether your healing looks normal.

FINEST BROWS

Numbing

You'll need to purchase your own numbing cream (L1 and L2) ahead of your appointment. It has to be compounded specifically for you by a pharmacist — I'm not able to supply it or hold it on your behalf.

Where: Pharmacy 777, outside Westfield Whitford City Shopping Centre

What To Ask For:

  • L1 — Lidocaine 4.5% + Tetracaine 4.5% ointment

  • L2 — Lidocaine 5% + Tetracaine 2% + Adrenaline 0.02% gel

Call ahead and give them plenty of notice — it can take a few days to prepare, so don't leave it to the last minute. Bring both creams with you on the day.

If you have a heart condition, pacemaker, or blood pressure issue, check with your doctor before using L2 — it contains a small amount of adrenaline and may not be suitable for you.

Numbing is optional. Let me know on your form either way.

Before Your Appointment

A little prep makes a big difference to how your brows heal and hold colour.

6 Months Before

  • You must be off Accutane (Roaccutane)

4 Weeks Before

  • No Botox or filler in the forehead or brow area

2 Weeks Before

  • Stop retinol, AHAs/BHAs, and other exfoliating skincare on and around the brow area — including products you don't apply directly to your brows, as they still affect the surrounding skin

1 Week Before

No brow waxing, tweezing, or tinting. Come in with your natural growth so I can map accurately

  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning on the brow area — sunburnt or tanned skin can't be safely tattooed and affects how pigment sits

48 hours before

  • No blood thinners — aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, other omega-3 supplements. If you're on a prescribed blood thinner, check with your doctor before stopping anything and let me know

24 HOURS BEFORE

  • No caffeine or alcohol. Both thin the blood and affect pigment retention

Also: you must not be pregnant or breastfeeding, and must not have an active skin infection or cold sore in or around the brow area.

ON THE DAY

Apply your L1 numbing cream yourself about an hour before, using a cotton tip rather than your fingers to keep it clean and even. Then come straight in with your L2 in hand — that one's used once your skin is open

  • Arrive with a clean face — no makeup, moisturiser, or brow products

  • Once you arrive, I'll map and shape your brows and you'll approve the shape before we begin

  • Bring photo ID

  • Allow three hours

During your appointment, tell me straight away if you notice blurred or double vision, confusion, feeling hot or cold, sweating, numbness or tingling, headache, sudden paleness, trembling, ringing in your ears, nausea, a slow or irregular heartbeat, trouble breathing, unusual anxiety, rash, welts, itching, or feeling faint. Reactions are uncommon but I'd always rather know.

AFTERCARE

Give it two weeks and don't panic — your brows will look different day to day, and there's a stretch in the middle where you'll wonder what you've done.

FIRST 24–48 HOURS

  • Gently dab away any clear fluid with a clean, dry tissue. Don't let it dry on top of the tattoo

  • Apply your aftercare ointment sparingly with a clean cotton tip — a thin layer, less is more

  • They'll look 30–40% darker and bolder than the final result

  • Mild sunburn feeling for a few hours, then it settles

FIRST 10 DAYS

  • No direct water on the brows

  • No makeup, cleanser, or skincare over the area

  • No heavy sweating, saunas, or steam rooms

First 2 weeks

  • No UV exposure and no fake tan on the area — fake tan can turn pigment green

Days 4–10

  • Flaking and dryness. Completely normal

  • Do not pick. If you pull a flake early, the pigment underneath comes with it and you'll get patchy spots

  • Once the flakes are gone the colour will look faint. That's the fresh layer of skin over the top — it becomes more translucent over the following weeks and the colour comes back

Full healing: 4–6 weeks. Don't judge them before then.

And this matters: brows are a two-step process. Nobody's skin retains pigment identically, which is why your touch-up exists.

Long term

  • Expect 12–36 months depending on your skin, lifestyle, and sun exposure

  • SPF 50+ on the area once fully healed. Sun is the biggest cause of fading and discolouration

  • Avoid chemical exfoliants and chemical facials over the brows

  • No laser or IPL over the area — it changes the pigment colour

  • A colour refresh every 12–24 months keeps them looking fresh

  • You may still want to fill or style them a little day to day. Tattooed brows are a great base, not a total replacement for a brow pencil
